Prophet Muhammed’s ﷺ Sacrifice & Simplicity
Despite multiple accomplishments powered by innumerable sacrifices, Prophet Muhammed ﷺ never sought any worldly reward. He sacrificed everything for the sake of humanity, and did not take back anything which was rationally, legally and conventionally permissible. None in the history, and none till the rest of the existence can bring an equal to him ﷺ.
*Economic sacrifices:* Prophet Muhammed ﷺ sacrificed his successful business by giving away all his earnings, for the cause of his mission – the mission for humanity. He distributed his wealth with his own hands. He did not leave behind any money or property for his family, nor did he leave any office for succession by any of his family members. Neither did he recruit any guards and servants, nor were there any costly furnishings at his home.
*Political sacrifices:* Prophet Muhammed ﷺ never used any privilege or authority over others, beyond anything prescribed by Allah. He did not issue any decree to exalt his political position. Though many Jews and hypocrites wanted to pose challenges to him and his companions on their mission, he ﷺ never imposed any restrictions on them, nor flogged them, far goes establishing any state emergency or waging wars against them.
On the other hand, he gave the Jews and the hypocrites a perfect liberty for criticism. He took advice from his friends and foes, and also allowed people, including the youth, to reject his personal suggestions. These rights that Prophet Muhammed ﷺ gave them were not merely on paper, but were literally practiced. History shows that he ﷺ rejected his own opinion at times, and accepted others’ point of view.
*Social sacrifices & simplicity:* Prophet Muhammed ﷺ preferred equal social status for himself and never claimed any preferential treatment, not did he adapt any higher standard in the matters of food, dress and housing. He ﷺ never liked to have any distinctive place in social gatherings, He neither liked people standing in front of him to offer him any respect, nor to address him with any special title.
While building Masjids, he worked with his companions by carrying building material, breaking stones, and collecting wood by his own sacred hands. He allowed people to put a stern demand for the recovery of their loan. Prophet Muhammed ﷺ also offered to the public to take any revenge on himself if he had done any wrong to anyone – THOUGH HE NEVER WRONGED ANYONE!
The critics and criticisms on Prophet Muhammed ﷺ clearly seem to reflect either their sheer negligence or staunch irrational opposition & hatred against the noble personality in the beloved ﷺ. May Allah help us know more about Prophet Muhammed ﷺ and follow him, and may Allah grant guidance to those who still don’t understand him ﷺ, so that they do.
