Prophet Muhammed’s (ﷺ) Appreciation for Talent & Expertise

Prophet Muhammed ﷺ took part in the construction of Masjid Nabawi, as he too was involved in the process of bringing stones & bricks while raising the walls of the Masjid in Madinah, the quality of his which tells us about his humility, and the concept of equality that he showed us to be practiced till the end of times.

Meanwhile, a person named Talq bin Ali came from Hadhramaut and joined the construction work. He was an expert in making clay mortar. After taking a look at Talq’s work, Prophet Muhammed ﷺ became delighted and said: “May Allah show His mercy to the one who performs his work with beauty and perfection.” 

Then he addressed Talq bin Ali and said: “Keep yourself involved in this very work, as I have seen you do it well”. 

Prophet Muhammed ﷺ then turned toward the Sahaba ؓ and said referring to Talq: “This person is an expert in making clay mortar. Hence, let him work on this activity, as he is much better at it than all of you comparatively”. 

*Learning:* Prophet Muhammed ﷺ taught us that whatever task one undertakes, he should complete it with excellence and diligence, utilizing all his creative and physical capabilities. He should approach his work with integrity, maintain a high standard, and ensure its completion, without leaving it incomplete. The beloved Prophet ﷺ also taught us that a person should be entrusted with tasks that he can complete with excellence.
